Subproject 2: Mathematical modeling for CKDNapp

Sahar Ghasemi is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University Medicine Greifswald. She received her M.Sc in mathematical statistics from Allameh Tabataba’i University, Tehran, Iran. She started to work as a researcher and statistician at the Institute for Community Medicine, University Medicine Greifswald. During this course of time, she got involved in research projects in Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and Epigenome-Wide Association Studies (EWAS). Furthermore, she worked on developing a statistical method to judge conditional independence of secondary signals in GWAS meta-analyses.

In September 2019, she started her Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Helena Zacharias. She works on the CKDNapp project and focuses on improving the prediction of adverse events in chronic kidney disease patients by statistical methods.
